I'd have a pair but my 10yo blocks are still perfect. My Td5 had 3 sets in half that time.

Yes, there isn't much logic to it. I had a 2000 TD5 that was fine, but I've seen them bubble up on 2015/2016 vehicles. Perhaps it depends on whether the paint shop is in a hurry that day!

Do these need painting or is the ha enough protection for them? Also, my internal bolt plates are rusty as hell, do you have replacement options there?

Hi Miker,
They don’t need to be painted. If you were to leave them unpainted I would suggest a coating of wax to prevent them fading. I don’t have replacement bolts available but will look to source some. Thanks Huttopia |

Hi Doublea,
It is definitely worth asking the question! The paint finish on these will be much better and longer lasting than the standard LR cast blocks. Huttopia |

The paint quality is ok on the Lr blocks usually!....The problem is that the underside is not painted and where the unpainted edge meets the exterior paint if the paper seal allows moisture to build up and the small Ali block becomes a sacrificial anode to the bulkheads cathode....... If there is a good barrier between the block and the bulkhead you will slow down or stop the corrosion...pity LL did not paint the underside..cheapskates'!!
