I found that they existing mirror could be improved by making sure the three screws on the mounting bracket were really tight and also putting some Sugru between the mirror arm and the bracket as I clipped it back on.
The Sugru (mouldable silicon putty) takes up all the slack between the bracket and the arm. Dave Green Goddess - 1998 Defender 110 300tdi |

I don't find mine vibrates much really, but then being a USW with a cage in the back I can't see much out of it anyway. So I reckon tightening the fittings is worth a go. The windscreen frame fittings probably work loose over time too, so wouldn't hurt to go around with a screwdriver and tighten them all up, as they'll add to the vibration if they're loose.
The SVX stabiliser arm is part number LR013823, I've not checked availability and it's not cheap. A bit of rubber block cut to fit with a cable tie around it would do it too. |

Had never even heard of existence of that support. Surely my SVX did not have that at delivery. But my mirror does not vibrate, so I’m not missing it. Part seems available in Germany at €72.00 though.

It was possibly only fitted to soft top versions, where there is likely to be more vibration through lack of windscreen support from a roof.

I've never seen one either. When I removed the internal mirror from my '07 DC is not only didn't have one of those but also was so firmly in the clip in the roof that I had the greatest difficulty getting it off.
I don't really understand why that support is necessary, unless I had an unusually stiff one. Britpart lists it as well, for £50+ Edit - the soft top theory sounds extremely plausible. |

I would try a new mirror as sometimes the knuckle is worn, that worked for me. Alternatively might be able to wrap some ptfe tape around the balljoint to give it a tighter fit?

jrule, mine has always vibrated and when i hold the arm it stops, so thats why i put a cork there, but with everyone saying that there mirror does not vibrate, i just thought that they all did

I suppose this highlights the difference between truck cabs and station wagons. With tinted windows and kids seats I can barely see the back door. It might also just be a resonance thing. Some vehicles hit the right resonant frequency to make it vibrate, others don't. And that could just be down to slight differences in tolerances in the drive train.
It's not just a Land Rover thing. I used to work in a large fleet. Out of more than 30 identical Sprinters at our depot you found large differences between them in terms of the way they drove, even from new. Some were smoother than others, some were quicker away from the lights. Some had nice light gear changes, some were quite heavy etc. Same with the lorries, Some pulled better on hills than others, some were smoother than others. |
