Not so sure about that. All the TD5's I've seen (including mine) have painted rivets under the cappings and on the rear. The ones behind the 2nd row doors are unpainted. The bolts on TD5's were galvanised or electroplated. Sorry to say but it sounds like yours has had a respray... Dave Green Goddess - 1998 Defender 110 300tdi |

As mine's a 90 I don't have the rivets behind the second row doors, but all mine are painted. My rear crossmember could possibly have been sprayed at some point, but it's unlikely as she's only done 20k in her 6 year life so far and seems to have spent most of that in a garage. If it has been resprayed, it was just as poor as the factory applied paint. It's going into the bodyshop shortly anyway to have the front bumper blasted and resprayed, same to rear crossmember, mudflap brackets and a couple of areas on the bodywork that are bubbling. So hopefully will be back to mint shortly, see how long that lasts!
Apologies for hi-jacking your thread Nellie - back to the topic . . . |

Me too Back on topic - I do like that blue - it seems to suit the utility body really well. I think LR think that too since the earliest publicity shots were also in blue. Dave Green Goddess - 1998 Defender 110 300tdi |

Having been on the factory tour yesterday with AndrewS and the guys we found out that the unpainted rivets on 110 are there on 'purpose' as the back ends are hand assembled at that point and they can't get that panel joint made and painted at the same time as the rest of the panels ... Jon |

One week and 1250 miles in....
All is good From the tiny lanes of deepest Cornwall, big hills, A-roads and motorways, through the Peaks of Derbyshire and back down through to Suffolk - the landy has not missed a beat and nothing has fallen off! 1000's of bugs have ended their lives against the screen and an owl nearly joined them. Running-in gently (Mainly below 2500rpm for the 1st 500 miles), followed by 3000rpm max up to 1000 miles. Points to note - paint is 'thin' in the windscreen gutter (lower) and at the back door closing strip. The only odd noise is a slight clunking when coming to a stop with the clutch depressed. The gearbox is still very tight which with the very short 1st means care has to be taken to not 'clunk' the gearbox. We are mainly very happy The Baltic Blue 110 will be heading back to the Baltic very soon |

Hej Nellie.
I am a bit curious: I see you have UK registration number but your post is from Viborg, DK. Is your gorgeous 110 in the UK or DK? Will I live to see you on the roads in the "Region Midtjylland"? Someone I know has a 110 Tdci with painted rivets one side and unpainted on the other. QA checks at Land Rover? Nope.
