It's that time of year when for a few weeks we become perhaps more partisan than as being merely 'Defender Owners'. (Unless we're against Jeep owners, that is... ). It's the greatest rugby tournament on earth. So wishing all rugby fans, from whichever side of our various borders, all the best for a cracking couple of months.
Pundit-Grenadier's assessment: England looking like one of two teams for the title, bolstered by their favourable home draws. Ireland looking equal favourites, perhaps with the better functioning squad than England, but two big away matches Scotland looking like the 'exciting' team to watch. Perhaps not with a chance for the title, but certainly some big scalps that might help decide who become champions Wales, lots of new blood, perhaps forcing Gatland into some more up-to-date tactics. First match today against Scotland will set the tone. France, honestly who knows. Will their European club performances translate into national success or is it too soon after GNs departure? But it's France, they could still cause an upset, notably in the England match Italy, sadly despite CoS arrival, (as a Quins supporter, a big fan of the man from Limerick) looks like it might be a whitewash, notably with a resurgent Scotland All in all, the most open 6Ns for some years. No outright winner, points and bonus points will matter, some big scalps will be taken, Hogg will score a wonder-try from behind his own try-line, Clancy will ref badly, I'll have too many beers, England will be called 'arrogant' by the media, scrums will collapse, re-set and collapse again, someone in Cardiff will be wearing a daffodil or sheep hat, someone will cheat (boo, hiss), some new teen wonder-kid will emerge, I'll cry if we lose, Italians will cry during their (awesome) national anthem, we'll wince at crunching tackles, stand and cheer at runners carving up the oppos, raise an eyebrow of acknowledgement when a 20 stone prop at full pelt, side-steps a fullback before off-loading one-handed behind his back, and yet at the end, despite everyone wanting the English to lose (and perhaps the Irish achieving it) we'll once again be rugby-loving brothers in arms, wondering where the time went and waiting impatiently for the next 10 months until it all starts again. Can't wait; perfect, Shakespearean drama. Monsieur Le Grenadier I've not been everywhere, but it's on my list..... 2011 Puma 110DC - Corris Grey |

Great game JOW but in all honesty I expected England to really batter the Italians, good result all the same however the Italian play was very good, amazing what a different coach can do to a team and let’s be honest Mr O’Shea is doing a good job, watch out for them in the near future. Cogito ergo sum
