Electric window motor care!
Another tip I have lost - It's a shame we can't bookmark the relevant threads!

Somebody gave a tip regarding the preventative maintenance of electric window motors to keep them in good order. Can anyone remember what it was. Tightening up the nuts holding the glass in position was one to stop the glass falling down but this was more motor specific like spraying it WD 40 or something Confused

Like your rear wiper motor they must be used regularly or they will stiffen up and sieze... don't worry about every component Zag or you won't have time to smile? 2008 RS4 gone, 123d M Sport, and a Puma 90 XS..

You could be right there. Trying to get all the griefy research and ordering of bits done before I pick her up in 4 days time...... Can't wait to get underneath with a paint brush and strip bits down to sort it all properly Thumbs Up I spent yesterday giving the new Dixon Bate tow bar 3 coats of paint and lacquering the tow ball Rolling with laughter Oh dear I have got it bad but first new car and all that Neutral

My wife asked if we were going camping in her in two weeks time and I said absolutely not the kids won't be allowed in it and it might get muddy in the field Rolling with laughter You think I'm joking Shocked Very Happy

If you are panicking already maybe a Defender is not the right car for you.. i had a 6,000 mile 90 as a courtesy car and lots of the paint underneath had fell off. A mate undersealed his and it virtually rusted away under the skin of sealer.. 2008 RS4 gone, 123d M Sport, and a Puma 90 XS..

Not panicking just preparing. I am treating it as another one of my classic cars Wink

This is a nice pick of a lovely guy who has had his Series 2A since new....I can see myself in the same pose if I am still alive Shocked It's a lovely original motor used and well looked after, he's just had the front axle rebuilt and new front springs put on (needs rears sorting as you can see from the stance) I travelled behind it on a club trip to France - VERY nice.

Mine will be used for work, towing the caravan, boat, school trips etc but no off road stuff. My Series can and does fulfill that role.

Admin note: this post has had its images recovered from a money grabbing photo hosting site and reinstated Mr. Green
