Discomog, personally speaking I wouldn’t put in a V8 to make my Def a ‘fast car’. I’d be putting it in to make it faster, make it as fast as it should have been from the start so that when backed up with better brakes, suspension, sound insulation, seats, stereo etc you can cruise the M-ways in Europe at a steady 90 (if you wish), and I’d be doing it for the sound, the feel, the grunt, the acceleration from start or overtaking and I’d be doing it ‘just because’ it’s a V8, arguably the world’s most iconic engine. I’d never be doing it to be a sports car. The same could be said of huge, insanely powerful, saloons by Merc, Rolls, Bentley etc. 0-60 times equal to those of many of the best 2-seaters, but no-one would pretend an E-Class AMG would keep up with a similarly powered Porsche at the Nurburgring. It’s about all the bits I mentioned above that the E-Class driver would spend 20-30k more on the AMG, not because they think it’ll be breaking lap times. Same for the Def, IMHO Monsieur Le Grenadier I've not been everywhere, but it's on my list..... 2011 Puma 110DC - Corris Grey |

Wow, that looked awesome. Am I right in thinking that the MKII Fiesta out-ran the E63? Certainly for the first half or so. Don't remember our neighbour's being that fast during the school run. Driver must just be very good at put the power down, and perhaps has removed the child seats and parcel shelf Monsieur Le Grenadier I've not been everywhere, but it's on my list..... 2011 Puma 110DC - Corris Grey |

I've been hankering after an LS after seeing those videos. Whilst I appreciate the engineering that goes into the Wildcats and so on I'd have to leave mine with the battered panels and spots of rust like Alex's. Half torn between keeping quiet as a sleeper but maybe should have a valve to make it noisy for that proper V8 sound.
Best get saving... Ed 82 Hotspur Sandringham 6x6 95 Defender 110 300Tdi |
