With the Mantec - Plastic one piece RAI - properly fitted then it would be virtually impossible to spray water in any significant amount NB: it is not a snorkel - still have drain holes etc: in air pipe to air filter. But the normal air intake can take in a lot of spray from a hose so would have thought the same could happen from that spray wash.
I could be wrong, but I would be happy to try such a system with the Mantec fitted but wouldn't consider it otherwise without protecting the air inlet ( Very few vehicles have an air intake in such an exposed position as the Defender - most are in the engine bay or behind the radiator and often low down and downward facing. )

Excellent: I thought you were going to send me off somewhere far more remote. I'll give it a go when I'm passing. Thumbs Up Peter

Well this car wash looks the business.
But why wash a Defender. Mines washed at the end of winter each year and when it rains, open the doors on a windy day and the interior is done.
Must use some serious chemicals to strip dirt with just water pressure, does it affect waxoyl ?

I may try it with my Series one and SCUBA gear Rolling with laughter Its never over in my land rover.

You will probably find you got water in through the air intake (i think there is advice to avoid spraying water in there) or possibly water under the bonnet at one of the sensors.

The ECU on the bulkhead is IP55 ISTR and wouldnt be your issue - one other option would be water from underneath getting into the drivers seatbox...but my bet would be a sensor or the air intake. Mike

Hi MSE, had local garage have a look with a generic tester - says it was an EGR fault, but could not give any more info - could it be related or just coincidence?

There are usually a number of EGR faults and MAF faults logged normally anyway...some are nothing to worry about, some are significant...some are cumulative eg you start with a MAF fault that increases with a number of other MAF/EGR etc faults until you get some engine warning light.

You could - on the other hand - have a faulty EGR valve that is common.

There are a number of posts on here regarding EGR's and MAF's...on the latter some by me. Mike

Lucky boy! Here in Paris I pay not each miniute but each second of work at my garage.
BTW very nice Series: if a day I will decide to leave Paris for the countryside I would like to have (again) one of this.

Carlo, its much the same here in the UK with Main Steelers, just luck to have a family run garage just down the road that value relationships not just cash!

Hi Ken, its only 1 mile away, so even in the series 1 not that long to get there. We covered 130 miles today and no problems since (tempting fate I know!).

Ps, just noticed the Weimaraner tag - ours (Dillon) died last Christmas 3 years ago, still miss him:
