How do I fill in these holes in a bumper. (DIY Led bumper)
OK so following my post on what bumper...

I had a 'spare' bumper in the garage I had forgotten about (like you do)

So I'm sanding it down with a view to cutting some light holes and spraying... Might as well have a go. As I'm sanding it theirs a a couple of spots of rust that now sanded leaves a little indent.

What do I use to fill this in? Under the end caps will be hidden so primer, spray but would rather the visible part be neat.

Kurust, Isopon P38, sand, primer. I doubt anything else for such a small spot. $W33T $0U7H3RN $UG4R

^ Thanks there are a couple more but only small.

However I don't want to be able to see them once sprayed so thought about a filler but what filler.

Will give it a go.. nothing to lose.

Canโ€™t you take them to a local friendly garage/Bodyshop bung them a tenner, and get them welded up?
It would be easier in the long run,
Once they are ground flush and cleaned up you wouldnโ€™t know they were there. Wink 80" 80" 86" 88" 90"

on that second pic it looks like you havent got through the powder coat with your sanding. you will want to really cut through to metal surrounding the rust otherwise it will just creep underneath and lift the powder coat around your repair.

scrape the paint off you'll find that rust travels quite a long way back from the hole under the paint. If you don't you'll find it just erupts again in a year.

Ideally you want to get the whole thing shot blasted, but given the price of a new pattern part bumper it's probably quicker and of a similar price to just buy a new rust free one. It depends how much you value your time.

Also looks like you're using some sort of dual action sander. Personally I'd be going at that sort of rust with an angle grinder and wire wheel/nylon wheel/flap disc!

There are paint removal discs on eBay for that. Will take off powder coat too without eating into the metal. Downfall they do have though is you canโ€™t get them into awkward areas. $W33T $0U7H3RN $UG4R

Beauty of having it blasted and coated is you can do all the modifications before hand and ensure it's properly coated so it'll last longer Thumbs Up 2002 90 Td5 Station Wagon
