Zu rims question
All:

I’ve always liked the look of Zu rims, and fancy a set for my ‘85 Ninety. I see prices all over the place- from under a hundred quid each to a lot more. Are the cheap ones worth it, or should I get a more expensive set? I was just quoted $1,100 for a set of five, which seems a bit steep. I’d like a white set. Any thoughts?

Thanks,

I have a set of "real" Zu rims made by Zu Rims Ltd and they are a cracking bit of kit.

There do appear to be some copies floating around with lesser specifications in terms of load and therefore I would assume manufacturing process and material quality.

If you go for the real ones you will not be disappointed not to mention the fact that you wont be supporting those who "rip off" others designs. 1995 300 Tdi Epsom Green - It's a keeper.

Paul, if you can get a GENUINE ZU rim for less then a £100 then that is less then standard trade price.

Safari Equip who have the Zu rims made for them or a couple of miles from home and I am in the factory on a reasonably frequent basis picking up stock.

Zu rims are TUV approved so are fit for purpose.

Cheap copies are they TUV approved are they fit for purpose?

Just remember that a wheel is rather important safety component. If one failed on a motorway at rush hour the consequences could be dire!

Now as I understand it 'special wheels' do not need an approval mark. Zu Rims are TUV approved so you can be reasonably assured of quality.

For a set of 5 you would be looking in the region of £700 - £750 for a set of 5 ex UK VAT or about 1,000-1,100 USD excluding shipping from UK.

Shipping from the UK to US for 5 rims would not be exactly cheap. If you want more information bung me an email

Thanks chaps. I will save up & get a real set. I don’t carry much weight wise, but will be running a lot more power & torque than stock.
