You must be keen to actually get out and take a photo in that weather. Almost as daft as someone who washes theirs in similar weather All in the name of keeping the forum alive

Where did you go to find all that snow? I didn't think there was any south of Preston! TD5 needed for laning then! |

Drove mine today every day chores, heading back after just coming off a roundabout I had quite a vibration.
Seemed worse at lower speeds around 1st 2nd 3rd gear, especially when coming to a halt. Thought maybe I had a flat tyre, seemed like the passenger front area but on inspection I didn't. Couldn't investigate further tonight driving back in the dark and wet, it's seemed to come and go not too noticeable. Bit of a rumble at times, again around the 3rd gear 2k revs range. It appears to be the left side area, hubs didn't seem warm or hot and no obvious signs of leaks. Need to check tyre pressures though, and wondering if maybe I've lost a balancing weight. I was wondering the above, drive shaft or wheel bearings, possibly prop UJ's. Anyone got any ideas? Obviously I'm going to hope and check the easiest options first. Especially tyre pressures, any loss of balancing weights and wheel bearings. There seemed no difference in acceleration, under braking, steering or anything like that. Which is why I'm thinking rotational balance. $W33T $0U7H3RN $UG4R 🇬🇧🏴🏴🏴🇮🇪🇺🇸⛽️🛢️⚙️🧰💪 |

Quite possibly a UJ. Wheel imbalances usually show themselves at slightly higher speeds 2002 90 Td5 Station Wagon

Steve,
Might be worth checking your wheelnuts. I have had similar issues when they haven't been nipped up enough. 1995 300 Tdi Epsom Green - It's a keeper. Wide Track Sankey- In bits- Gone to a new home M0XQS |

Will check tomorrow, but no good tonight.
How would I go about checking the UJ's? Bear in mind I'm not a mechanic or engineer. It seemed to come and go, I got home okay without any problems and seemed to improve but at times there was a bit of a rumble. On the whole, it didn't seem too bad but something is or has been a miss and I had came back though the lateness so obviously very wet, mucky and rough as most are at the moment. Definitely will check the wheel nuts as well whilst at it, braking, accelerating, steering and actual control seems fine no lurching or anything like that at all. $W33T $0U7H3RN $UG4R 🇬🇧🏴🏴🏴🇮🇪🇺🇸⛽️🛢️⚙️🧰💪 |

I've been having a little trouble with my el-cheapo amplified radio aerial recently so with an hour spare I decided to have a look. When I took it off the wing the metal contact on the base had been reacting with the aluminium and the centre of the coax cable had snapped. I then had the bright idea to put it up on the roofrack so I made a bracket that attached to the spotlight brackets, extended the wires and turned the radio on. Success, even tucked behind my garage it could pick up all the radio stations and even better was that it worked as it should when driving about this afternoon doing the college pickups
