No market for stripped back 4x4s in the UK?
Toyota seem to disagree. Not exactly cheap, but a basic Land Cruiser will be available in the uk soon. I wonder if they are after all the those farmers, vets, tree surgeons etc looking for something to replace their Defenders?

5 door in a dark colour doesn’t look so bad, but yes, not exactly svelte is it? Would still like one as my daily so I could retire the Defender. 2007 110 TDCi Station Wagon XS

I’d have one in black if it wasn’t for the price. €73k for three doors manual with non heated cloth seats and a plastic steering wheel. 😑

You misread: it's 33k.
73k was an the price for its luxury opposite, in this case an XC90.

£34,100 for a basic 5 door in UK. Looks aside, it’s good to see Toyota trying this. Be interesting to see if it’s a success. 2007 110 TDCi Station Wagon XS

Shame you can't get 7 seats in 5 door basic trim. Silly as that's a good family hack 1951 80" S1 2.0

Vogler, I wish. I checked the Dutch price list. Apart from vat, we have to add €36k ‘punishment’ taxes to the car.

Is it just me or does this story sound familiar?

2 doors, wipe clean seats, steel wheels, go anywhere farmers vehicle with a bit more comfort than the series Land Rover...

I think Toyota have been bit a bit cute here & could tap a market that Land Rover have let slip from their grasp.

Time will tell I guess.

Don't think it will sell that well though, how many of the basic Shogun 3dr vans/ 4 seaters do you see around? Not many!

I'm not sure if they are comparable though as I don't really know much about either.

I like the concept, but the execution ... my eyes, my eyes! Shocked

That might actually be improved by a multiple roll-over accident at speed.

It doesn't have leaf spring does it? Previous model certainly didnt, I used to drive them for work and can't imagine they've gone back to them. 2007 110 TDCi Station Wagon XS
