Run it on a high idle at least (better yet take it for a drive if able), ticking over for an hour will not do the engine much good. Not saying the world will end but it’s not good practice.

GOOD NEWS
The 90 runs and now it DRIVES, Basically the Input Shaft Gear wasn't playing ball and has been replaced. So next step is to throw the wings on and then wire up the lights and then its pretty much done and dusted

It has been known to cause polishing or glazing of bores in some diesel engines in the past, I guess through incomplete combustion as it never warms up properly or through lack of lubrication.
Probably fine on a well run in engine, but all the same it’s easy to avoid so worth doing so in my opinion. Engines like to be hot and working hard! |

Well Christmas time is meant to be slightly relaxing and chilled out.... But no 3 days before Xmas some one ran a red light and decided to collide with me. Luckily it wasnt a high speed collision and my Drivers Wheel took most of force.
Moving on so my brother came back up North (he lives in Oxford) and wanted to see the 90 now that it drives. So the 23rd december took a trip up to my work and pulled the 90 out of hibernation and he said shall we try put a wing on as they do need to eventually go back on it. One thing led to another and by the end of the day we had both wings on

This time we decided that the mud tyres needed to go back on and give it that more aggressive look. (its been sat on the small silver steel wheels for far too long) After that the rest of the front grill went back on, and even though i wont be keeping the standard bumper it was in the way in the container so we threw that on to pass the time as well Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge And thats now pretty much fully upto date. I feel for you matey I have the same car (well mrs used it mainly) we would be gutted if this happened to us cracking motors

It is a cracking little motor, and yes as its only 5months old i was rather peeved off to say the least. I kinda wished i had the 90 on the road as he would have driven straight into the rock sliders instead but ahh well. So last night i stayed back at work and decided to fit my wing top chequer plate and also my Receiver hitch.

Not much has happened this weekend on the 90.
But got the drivers side light bowl and indicator and sidelights in ready for wiring up. It was a massive headache drilling all the original screws out. And also added the side grill thingy as my snorkel/raised air intake is now going to come from the drivers side. Now its time to do all the wiring for the lights front and back. Then save up for a new bumper and some new seats. Dragged the land rover out this weekend its been a couple of months since i last looked at it, due to life being busy and weekends coming and going too quickly,
That being said whilst i had the landy out of the container i manged to sort out some of the parts and bits that have been bought and stored. One of the items bought were the storage cages from Flatdog 4x4 so after drilling some holes they were fitted. I also found some off cuts of rubber matting and decided to glue them around the Tub. Not the neatest of jobs but it doesnt bother me as my spare wheel will be laying down in the tub. Cheers Procta, its getting there. Decided now to refurb my original doors that came with the 90 and remove the series door that it currently has on. So another slight set back as i have to dig the doors out and strip the paint off them, cut out all the old rusted door bottoms and weld in replacement bits, As for the Mini it went back to the dealership and took 2 months for them to repair it, it needed a new bonnet, wing, door, cill, wheel, steering rack, suspension, brake disc. So not much work for them to do  and i got it back at the end of Feb

Last night, was a bit different i removed the old series doors from the 90, and i have decided to put the doors that came with the 90 back on.
Its been a bit of a tough decision as i love the series doors and in summer removing the door tops to drive about in gives a nice breeze in your hair and helps with the aircon  . But i fancy a bit of a change so they had to come off.
Now this is where the fun is going to be as all the bottoms have rotted out and they need a good bit of TLC, plus painting blue as they are still orange. we all love a challenge. It also feels like i have done 2 steps forward and one step back but it will be for the best and if i dont like it well i will put the series doors back on and have some refurbished doors as a spare set

Making progress one way or another
at least if you dont like the orange doors on, as you said you can put the series ones back on i like the blue doors (imo ) 1996 Golf Blue 300Tdi 110 Pick up.
