Clutch switch is a ground signal, and the path is broken when the clutch pedal is pressed.
So you are looking for ground at all times at pin 35 on the black ECU connector. If you are looking in the engine bay, look for the 2 pin connector with black and black with white stripe wires. [/quote] 1988 90 Td5 NAS soft top 2015 D90 XS SW |

Thanks Martin, that makes it easier if I have to resolve at pin 35.

So a new ground at pin 35 brought the orange engine management light on permanently (and I would say it was running a bit rough, but can’t really swear to that)…. so I put the old wire back in.
Nanocom says that the clutch switch is ON, so does that mean it thinks it’s pressed or not? The manual says that when the clutch is in the rest position, the switch is closed, which allows a feed.. to pin 35. As far as I can tell, everything else is as it should be: With Cruise Control master switch (I have a toggle in the circuit) OFF: Brake switch 1 OFF (ON when pedal pressed) Brake switch 2 ON (ON when pedal pressed) Clutch switch ON Cruise Control OFF .. Cruise Resume and Set Accelerate do nothing. With Cruise Control master switch ON Brake switch 1 OFF (ON when pedal pressed) Brake switch 2 OFF (OFF when pedal pressed) Clutch switch ON Cruise Control ON .. Cruise Resume ON (MOM) when pressed Set Accelerate ON (MOM) when pressed Driving along at 60(ish) the speedo is right, the compushift is right, and Nanocom tells me that the road speed is 95ish, so presumably this is reading in km/h, but the Set Accelerate does not Set….. Is it still an issue with the clutch switch/pin 35? Thanks |

It's hard to tell, have you had no luck finding the plug around the brake master cylinder area? 2002 90 Td5 Station Wagon

Nope, can't find the clutch switch as Ashcroft have "cut, isolated and tucked the wires back in the loom."
Dave says "This is open circuit when you are off the clutch and closed when the clutch is pressed, so its now open all the time" So similar to Martin's answer. I don't suppose you have a nanocom and could check yours could you please grafty? Or anyone else? Thanks Mike |

I don't have a nanocom unfortunately, it's something I keep meaning to get! I don't think it is a normally open switch as when I unplug the clutch switch on mine (to improve drivability) the cruise control won't work, which would suggest it's normally closed? 2002 90 Td5 Station Wagon

Sorry, yes (been a long day) Ashcroft says the circuit should be open, you guys ( and actually me from reading the book in an earlier post) say it should be closed.
So, I should look again for the black and black/white wires in the engine bay - does anyone know where they come through the bulkhead or what else they are with? before I go randomly untaping bits of the loom... Thanks |

Should be near/with the brake fluid level cables I would have thought. Don't have a real Td5 here to refer to though 1988 90 Td5 NAS soft top

I've just had a very quick look and the brake fluid level cables seem to be on their own and come round on the wing side, there's obviously more cables in the middle but i couldn't really see/ get at them.
There is an unused 4 way plug floating around, but no black or black/white wires.... I should be able to get a look at it in daylight on Thursday... |

The main loom is in conduit so any excessive tape around the loom should be a bit of a give away 2002 90 Td5 Station Wagon

I'll have a sit in mine with the nanocom Wednesday AM, and let you know what the clutch switch behaviour is!

Hi Mike,
I may well be wrong about the switch, especially as grafty99 mentions the cruise doesn't work when the switch is unplugged, I now have a TD5 on the ramp which is going auto this week, I will check the switch and ask our fitter exactly where he hides the wires, Dave Dave |
