LT85 transfer box oil
There seems to be some conflicting information regarding which oil to use in the LT85 transfer box. I have read that both 20:50 engine oil and EP90 is correct.

Can someone supply the definitive answer please?

Transfer boxes are all EP90

There was one main gearbox that used engine spec oil as opposed to EP, but I forget which it was now. LT95 4 speed?

Yes my mate has a 110 Stage One with a LT95 transfer box which uses engine oil. Possibly that's where the confusion emanates from.

LT85 uses 20w50 as well. JB

Paul, the transfer box which goes with the LT85 which as you correctly mention is the LT230.

The LT95 is the original four speed box used in the Range Rover, Stage 1, 101 and early V8 90's and 110's. It had an integral transfer case and used 20/50 engine oil.

The LT85 is a five speed box produced by Santana in Spain and replaced the LT95 in V8 vehicles as it was stronger than the original five speed LT77. It's used in conjunction with the LT230 transfer box. The LT85 also uses 20/50 engine oil. Darren
