From the sublime to the ridicules ( and back again)
Hello peep, just found the forum and thought I would say hello. Have just put a deposit on a 3 year old Defender 90 XS, have yet to collect on Saturday (or 3,780 minuets, not that I am counting).

Its quite a change for me, as have just sold a Porsche 911 to buy it! And yes, I have driven one, and yes, I may be stark raving mad - so an ideal Defender owner if ever there was one.

I should add I have had a few landies in the past, fist was a series lightweight, then a standard 90 diesel, moved up to a series 3 county, but always had another 'everyday' car'. It will be joining my pet Series 1 who has been pining for a friend for ages (my wife does not buy that reason, but thankfully we have separate bank accounts!).

Anyhow, what a great site, its clearly been well thought out (am a designer myself) and having read some of the post, populated by some great people.

Bye for now
Kez

Well, welcome, I've had some 'interesting' cars...quick too, flicking from a fast car to a 90 everytime.
I made a quid selling my house and decided to buy the 'ideal' car....
It was a toss up between a 993 or a 90 !
So here I am Cool

So Hi and looking forward to see your 90 in a pic soon !!! Thumbs Up

Welcome Kez

You are not the only mad one on here, I sold a Cayman when I got my Defender - best thing I have done in a long time as the Cayman was a bottomless money pit when it came to service and repairs Thumbs Up

Welcome Kez,

The only problem I find with running a landie and another vehicle is I tend to get 2 sets of bills! Laughing Russell

Cheers Bob, know what you mean, just had two tyres for its MOT (£500) and another £90 for just the engine oil for an old change, plus two hours+ to change a set of plugs - then we get to OEM parts - am not saying Defenders are cheap, but am looking forward to a little financial rest for a while - and hopefully keep my licence longer too Smile

Think my total outlay over the last three years on the Series parts has been £15 in oil and a tin of paint!
Am like a kid at Christmas here - a week has never seemed so long lol

I know (its not Saturday), talk about time running slow. Still only two more sleeps as my son would say. Except I don't sleep, alternate between trying not to think about Saturday or going to the toilet for a wee (ahh, the delights of age)
