My 2.2 Puma has been smelling very hot after using low ratio for even a short period. Our road is very steep and icy, so been using low for the descent.
Is this just because it doesn't get more use, something that's expected, or something I should be worrying about? I can't identify anything specific and the smell is more like burnt rubber than hot clutch. Any thoughts? Should I be heading to the local garage? |

Maybe for starters have both gearbox and transfer box oils drained and replaced by fresh correct spec, correct volume. That way you are sure that nothing is running too low oil. If problem persists thereafter, you can look further.

Oil was changed in May as part of service, levels and colour look OK.
Went out again this morning and had to use low to reverse down our drive. Seems fine now. Hopefully, it was something daft that's sorted itself out. I'll see how it goes. Thanks |
