Land Rover Defender 110 USW TD5 2001
There may not be a comprehensive service history to this vehicle, however it’s previous owners are testimony to the type of extra ordinary vehicle she is. She originally started life as one of the first centre dash TD5 Defenders and was owned by Land Rover for four years. After this ownership transferred to Bowler where she did two tours of duty as a support vehicle on the Dakar Rally. The third owner was Bell Auto Services before coming into my ownership in 2013. since then she has been serviced using OME parts and pampered to say the least. With servicing, modifications and repairs carried out by HR Auto Specialists in Co Durham. A bit of history she was a LR vehicle and has a travel book listing the times she was driven and what she did over a few years – this also lists what work was done and needed as there is an entry each time she was taken out. From then in about 2006 she was supplied to a company that worked closely with LR and used as a support vehicle for 2 Dakar events. Obviously she was specked up for this; including an internal Protection & Performance cage, second fuel tank (now removed but the filler is still there) and various bits of electrical devices fitted such as a Terratrip 303 Plus which is still fitted. After the second outing to the Dakar she has had little use and stood for a couple of years in a dry barn and was purchased in January 2009 with 67,702 miles on the clock (mileage taken from the MOT). Since then she saw very little use having covered some 9,000 miles since Jan 2009 but serviced and maintained to a very high standard. There is however no service history with this vehicle other than the known history and travel book. In my ownership (April 2013) I have used her as a guide vehicle for All Terrain Tours on the Relaxed and Scenic brand of tours and since leaving ATT I have set up my own tour company. Other than odd outing to Wales and the Lake District for something a bit more challenging, she has been ultra-reliable on and off the tarmac and does what has been asked without hesitation or fuss. I converted her from a CSW to a USW more for security reasons than anything else. The rear section has internal foam and panels with a number of glove nets. I have adapted her for the tours I run so is a great vehicle as a greenlaner or overlander, best of both worlds really. I can supply the dealer direct specification sheet. However, she is getting on for her 17th birthday and is no prom queen or virgin, so don’t expect a showroom condition vehicle, she is full of character and spirit. Full file of receipts and documentations etc included within my ownership and 2 sets of keys. Russell looking for something for more long haul tours so perhaps your V8 is a bit too, well you know what I mean. No doubt the D2 will be reliable and quipped as the 110, good luck with selling.
