Dummy CAT
I have tried looking but cannot see anything

Have an 04 TD5 90 with no CAT, anyone where I can get a CAT sleeve or a dummy CAT from to put on the exhaust?
Its only a visual check for the MOT but cannot be arsed refiiting every year

Many thanks all

Mine is running a OEM decat section, I need something that I can put on that looks like a CAT

Does that make sense?

Same here, what we are getting at is that you may not need a dummy cat for it to pass Thumbs Up 2002 90 Td5 Station Wagon

OK - I will shove it in with the decat from a pre 02 and see what happens
Worse case, I spend a hour putting it back and then removing it once a year

Trouble is, she runs much better without

I would do the knocking, but also don't want the rules to change yet again and have to buy a CAT

The exhaust is in pretty good shape otherwise I would simply change it for a large amount of folding, so bought a pre 2002 OEM exhaust

Just looking at options for getting it through the MOT, without changing every 12 months
Fingers crossed for the MOT

If anyone has any other options, apart from knock the internals or buy a decat ready made let me know

With a Td5 it's not just a case of poking a big stick down the pipe, there's bends in the pipe plus it's a long way from the pipe joint. I had been replacing the cat for every MoT, as you say it's a visual check and I didn't want to put my MoT tester in an awkward position if the Inspector walked into his workshop when mine was in for its test. So a couple of years ago I slit the cat box open with a slitting disc and took out the internals, then welded it back up.

I know what you are on about, thats why I mentioned Allisport, I believe they make a dummy CAT. What I was saying is my 04 110 just passed its MOT at a pretty by the book garage, never mentioned the lack of CAT, my 02 90 passed everytime at 3 different garages with no issues as well.

So unless you have previously taken it to your garage and its failed due to the lack of CAT then I wouldnt be too worried about it!

Cool post back what happens. I had a poll going on Landyzone a couple years back no one (out of 40 people) reported a fail from a Decat, all years, Fenders & Discos all across the country. So I wouldnt be too worried but keep your CAT just incase for the future!

First of all Allisport don't do a deCAT sleeve, its the whole unit

So had the deCAT done yesterday by my Son and on the TD5 it is brilliant, no lag and the ride is just so much smoother
Only cost £80 from Duckworths for a pre 02 pipe

Old one in the shed just in case

Recommend, until I have the MOT Sad

It will run miles better, As CATs really do strangle diesels. My HDi really did open up massively when i removed mine, The MOT tester fitted the DEcat to it, He said it does nothing to a diesel anyway. Every since then its gone through, just throw the car in for an mot. If it fails on not having a cat, then take it else where. Some Mot testers find that the MOT rules are a little silly at times. My tester said as long as it passes the noise levels and smoke test, all will be fine. Defender TD5 90 ---/--- Peugeot 306 HDI hatch back
