How old are the arms? Perhaps new ones would have more 'spring' in them? Darren

And genuine, Pattern ones are no better. Try Dan at Duckworths.

Im assuming they are original, so 2012. I never thought that would be a part that wore out !

The arms are likely just tired, the pivots in them seize up and the springs get tired. so get new ones. They might have been made in 2012, but they're still basically a 1960's design.
As for blades, just buy genuine ones, they're only about £8 each. |

I changed the wiper arms a couple of years ago as they aren't expensive and mine were tatty and tired. At the same time I switched to Bosch Aero blades. That combination made a huge difference, but to be fair the old set up was quite poor.
There still doing their stuff |

I found the Bosch Aeros interfered with the washer jets, what little fluid was aimed at the screen tended to bounce off the fat blades. Back to old-school ones now. 1988 90 Td5 NAS soft top

I found likewise Martin, I just use standard Bosch blades from Halfrauds.

Does anyone use the silicone blades that a few suppliers advertise? They look a good choice according to the spiel but reality often differs...

You buy wiper blades from Halfords? They're cheaper from main dealers. I bought a pair from my local dealer about a month ago. £8 each. |
