Either will be a toy simply for the joy of having it. My current s5 is a great bit of kit does everything i want and is cheap to run but the s8 is both new and exciting. The makita would be for saving energy working on cars undoing wheel nuts and everything because breaker bars and ratchets are so 5 minutes ago. Rhubarb and custard let fly with their secret weapon.

Been a fan of Screwfix's Erbauer range for some time - until just bought a cordless circular saw that had no carry case and no blade in the box. My 4 Ah battery from my Erbauer impact driver doesn't fit, either, so now less impressed with them. To be honest, I've had my share of Makita and DeWalt tools over the years, and didn't think they justified the extra expense. My Makita cordless circular saw packed up under guarantee, then so did the replacement! Never bought another Makita until five years ago, but still don't think it performs any better than my Erbauer. The chuck on my DeWalt had a tendency to jam, too. A builder I once worked with always bought the cheapest tool he could get and ran it into the ground - says it made economic sense. Now left.

Not wanting to be unable to move for different chargers i I have always been a makita fan, hell I even named my cat makita. Rhubarb and custard let fly with their secret weapon.

I use impact guns all day every day in my line of work and the Milwaukee absolutely beats the Makita hands down

As a general rule I work on the principle that if you can buy it at Screwfix it probably isn't very good. Time was when SF sold good stuff, but now it seems to me to be all budget or loss-leader. |

My own DIY stuff at home is Makita as I am a Makita fan, but the work equipment is all Milwaukee. about 25 1/2 impact guns, and 4 cordless hammer drills. My own personnel impact gun is Snap On, just to match the tool box  |

Loving that the phone option hasn't got a vote yet.
Been on the milwaukee site looking for a comparable wrench to the 258 and unless I am missing something there's nothing like the makita or rather there's some as small but none that kick like the 258. Or they kick as or harder but are huge? Rhubarb and custard let fly with their secret weapon. |
