thank you for the reply ibexman, maybe i should purchase another Hard Top but it does seem excessive just for a Rib, unless anybody on here knows of a roof kicking around that they can remove a Rib from? only need the front tapered section about 30 cms long.

yes the roof can be repaired with the new section, my front section of Rib was caught under a low branch and peeled it off the roof, I have tried to make it the correct shape but panel beating skills are poor, hence the request for a replacement Rib I can pop rivet into place

You could try YRM, see if they'll make you one.

Some skilled guy with a folding/brake press may be able to make good of your part or be able to bend you a length up?
But I think another roof may be easier |

I have a ribbed roof in my garden that I was just saving for the holes (template to cut vent holes in existing roof to add tropical roof).
I'll have a look and see how easy it would be to remove a rib. |

Blakey007,
I've just done this repair to my ninety's roof and have one spare rib left ![]() I bought a roof that had a damaged corner but the ribs were OK. I used a spot weld drill to drill the damaged rib to free it from the roof and then drilled the damaged roof to free the rib, thus ending up with a good rib with no holes and a good roof with a missing rib and no holes. The good rib was then fitted to the roof but the dome head rivets at the cab end didn't line up with the existing holes, so a bit of ally plate had to go inside the screen frame mounting pressing for the rivets to pull against. Had to drill some 1" holes to access the pressing though. Rib and roof were drilled and countersunk for 5mm closed end rivets at 60mm centres, cleaned and primed internally with epoxy etch primer before bonding and riveting in place with sikaflex 252. As far as making a new rib with a press brake, the problem is that the ends have a curved taper on both ends and a drain groove at the front end, so would need to be die pressed rather than folded to look in-keeping with the remaining ribs, hence why I recovered good ribs from a damaged roof. You are welcome to the rib I have if its any use and if Cornwall isn't too far to collect it. Paul |
