Nope just change it over. The batteries are very common most corner shops should sell, I carry a few in the glove box just in case.

Whilst I too would like to see the above photos....
![]() ![]() Procedure(basics).... Insert key and turn to position II(ignition on). Turn key to position O(Ignition off). Remove the back of the fob and remove the battery. Hold one button for minimum 5 seconds to drain any residual power in the fob. Fit the new battery ensuring contacts are clean and polarity is correct. Reassemble the fob. From outside the car operate the LOCK button at least 4 times(this synchronises the fob). Press unlock to unlock. All done. ![]() PS I cannot believe the main dealer said it doesn't have a battery ![]() MY2012 110 2.2TDCi XS SW Orkney Grey - http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic43410.html MY1990 110 200TDi SW beautifully faded Portofino Red - https://www.defender2.net/forum/post743641.html#743641 MY1984 90 V8 Slate Grey - https://www.defender2.net/forum/post744557.html#744557 Instagram @suffolk_rovers |

or just pop it open and swap the battery. The push the lock button 4 or 5 times to resync it. I've done that loads of times without bothering with the above and suffered no adverse effect. I've also done it on Rover fobs (same fob as early Puma's) for at least 20 years.
It's true of the latest keyless ignition vehicles (ie Range Rover, Discovery etc), i expect they were just getting confused about which fob you had. As yours is a 2014 car, i expect the fob is the newer style with the chrome bit on it? The look identical to the keyless entry ones used on the current range. |

Exactly, but the dealer parts bod probably just looked at the fob and mistook it for the Range Rover/Discovery type one, as they look the same.

I have the new style fob, it’s been flat for some time.
I have just replaced the battery and it won’t unlock the car at all. I Have tried the old method of key - 2 back to 0 and press the button a few times to sync. Any ideas? |

Thanks all
I've got a replacement key from remotekey.co.uk and couldn't get it working after replacing the battery. Followed the steps above and worked first time Barry |
