Ahhhh an old classic
More than likely it'll be your fuel tank breather. There's a decent sticky about it. Land Rovers top quality parts again unfortunately. Have a read through the sticky and any more questions feel free to ask, as I've just had to do the job on my 110 DCPU. |

You probably overfilled it, need to stop at first click, let the foam subside and then do another click or two.
If you keep going until it's filled near the top of the filler tube it will come out the breather. Even tho I know this, I still tend to over fill, especially if I'm going to be driving straight off on a long journey. Bad habit. |

I had something similar, but only leaked when parked on the drive which has ever such a slight slope. Turns out the breather was fitted facing the wrong way round 2007 - Stornoway Grey 90 XS SW - Gone
2002 - Black Discovery II - Gone 2014 - Montalcino Red 110 XS SW |

Was that breather fitted the wrong way round from the factory Rosco? I couldn't quite decide which way round it should go when I was fiddling with mine. Seemed to flow in both directions, so I put it back as it came off.

the breather was just too short for a start and the hose was made out of rubbish quality rubber so it splits.
There is a revised longer breather now, just order a new breather hose and you'll get the latest long one that straps to the side of the filler hose. I did mine it wasn't too bad, had to release the front mountings on the tank and lower it down slightly on a jack for access from the wheel arch. The worst part is snapping the old hose clip off the tank, as it's only of those single use clip together stainless band things. Once that was off it was just a case of pulling the old hose off, pushing the new one on along with a jubilee clip - which is much easier to do up with a small rachet and socket. the jack the tank back into place and resecure everything. Cable tie the breather hose to the side of the filler hose. Be prepared to get filthy, as there will be diesel and dirt mix all over the top of the tank. |

Yeah, it's not the most fun of the typical Defender ownership badges one eventually accumulates... Solved the bowel problem, working on the consonants...

All Pumas will leak on overfill but mine was badly perished at the filler cap end only noticed it when i changed the rubber gasket around the filler neck. At 6 years old too.
