to start with you do see it but overtime you just ignore it and it becomes part of the peripheral. My inspiration is that a lot of Australian instillations have it there so why not? and as above using a good long base load but better a Top load gives just as good range as more traditional setups and I haven't drilled into the body work.

It's really important to tune the aerial correctly, that's far more important than having a long twangy thing on the roof.
