So £300+ just so you can unlock with a wristband? Seems a bit excessive!
You can install central locking onto the Defender very easily, DIY kits from Hawk cost around £30 takes about half a day to do a 90, probs need a weekend for a 110. Then you can buy a relay off ebay or Defender leccy specialists for around £15 which needs to be professionally/properly soldered onto your 10AS unit. Finally the central locking must be activated using a Nanocom. Hey presto central locking via the original fob. I've no idea if that unit could be tied into the Defenders 10AS alarm system but I would bet it can't without some very complicated and expensive electrical work. |

Having watched a video last week of thieves driving off a keyless BMW by somehow just 'scanning' the front door (presumably, copying the key code signal) I'm not sure I'd want to go keyless! James

I'm not sure it makes much difference with a Defender being keyless or not anyway. I mean we know the doors aren't that secure and the Morris Marina ignition lock is probably still easier to bypass than the modern keyless systems!
With regards to the activity key. You can just hide the existing remote somewhere in the back of the car and lock the door with the key. The key is waterproof anyway (because it's just a key), just tie it to your arm or put it on a lanyard. |

The idea of Activity Key is that you can leave the original keys in the vehicle - once locked with Activity Key they wont work (so if someone breaks in they are useless) whilst doing "activities" that may harm the normal key.
Simple answer - impossible to fit to a Defender and to be brutally honest pretty pointless (and I like toys!!) |

But then how would you disable the original keys when locked with the wrist band?

Well the keys are inside the fortified defender as any fule wud know and they be mega hard to brake in two.
But if they manage to get into the truck and get hold of the keys then it's not good. But what the heck why not have the lock on the cubby safe also accept the RFID tag. They have been playing with the idea of RFID chips in the hand but so far people just look daft as they try and open doors. |

It seems there are no followers to the idea of a keyless for the Defender. Maybe it's just made for the new Disco.
I'll keep doing some research, but just for curiosity. |
