Puma 2.2 Remap
Hi, it's my first time posting here and will be looking for some advice.

I have a 2012 Defender Puma 2.2 booked for a remap. I use it as a daily car and would like to add some more power without compromising the reliability of the engine.

What's your opinion on this and regarding blocking off the EGR valve please? I have read in some posts that jamming the EGR in the closed position electronically may result in errors & warning lights coming on.

Thanks!

Welcome to Def2! Please do post some photos of your Defender Thumbs Up

With reference the remap, I was in just the same situation as you a couple of years ago on my 2012 2.2 110. I ended up fitting a the BAS170AB remap with BAS Hi-flow intercooler to help minimise any stresses of additional 50hp. I couldn't be happier! Totally transforms the Defender, not just the extra power, but just a much better delivery of power, far smoother, more responsive. Had for just over a year now and can highly recommend!

I still have my EGR, so can't really comment, but I believe if you do blank it then you need to modify the ECU, this can be done via the remapping I believe?

I can highly recommend speaking to Pete Bell at Bell Auto Services. Thumbs Up James

I'd leave the EGR and get a map from Alive or BAS. Had both and they are very good

Alive with Remap and EGR shut ekectronically.
At a later date you can fit a physical blank after and you will have no issues at all. $W33T $0U7H3RN $UG4R

My 2.2 had the Alive map, but the EGR was still active. Not sure if it was to do with all the extra electronics around the emissions and DPF? It went well enough though. Thumbs Up

I went for the BAS 170 and Hi Flow intercooler, all very straight forward and Pete is a great help. Highly recommend it made my 110USW a lot more pleasurable to drive.

I have the BAS170 and the intercoolet. Really pleased. Much better experience all round. The egr valve is closed electronically most of the time, but remains able to be activated. Pete at BAS keeps the ability to use them at times for the dpf self cleaning cycle.

KU310R my advice would be to stick to one of the reputable respected remap people who come highly respected on here.

Those are in 'no particular order' Alive, BAS, IRB.
