There was a BBC bit about the NC500 a few weeks ago
(If anybody goes, be considerate and don't bother inconveniencing the Applecross Inn by spending any money in there... (about 2mins:40 in) http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/av/uk-scotland-4...o-route-66 |

Totally agree, although the route is well documented it's well worth taking time to explore the surrounding back roads. Scenery is spectacular but the east coast can be a bit murky. Did it in the Defender earlier this year. Just beware camper vans! Just because you're offended doesn't mean you're right. |

We did it clockwise in June! It's amazing!
I would recommend it to anyone. Although Anti-clockwise is better! The very campsites on the north coast are great (John O'Groats and Durness). The West Coast is the highlight though, loads of wee camp sites and Wild Camping spots. Depending on your time scale you can quite easily spend a full week or just a few days going around, hillwalking and the like! Be careful regarding 'off road' though, there are no 'Green Lanes' in Scotland and most access tracks are private. Here's our wee edit! Chris 2014 Discovery 4 TDV6 HSE 2003 Defender 90 TD5 CSW |
