I had the same problem after 14 months. After much debate, I just went for the Gore replacements. By the time I've messed about with the dealer my time is worth more than the £90.
On a grey Defender with Black Pack, having black windscreen brackets looks really good too. Just wish they'd hurry up with their replacement door hinges.

Maybe I won't be buying after all! I'll just revert to plan A of converting the bolts to security bolts with some metal putty.

I know its a common affliction - but serious the car is only 16 months old and ive noticed the corrosion setting in! Shocked

the $64000 get the gore replacements or get the dealer to fix it (or both!)

its got to go back for some normal warranty paint work anyway - in fact the thing keeps going in for paint defects!

In my opinion its galvonic induced corrosion .....the aluminium bracket is small (anode)and is atttached at one end to a aluminium windscreen frame and at the other to a large steel bulkhead(cathide),the bracket is being sacrificed especially where the ali bracket is attached to the bulkhead. It does not help that the original gasket is posh cardboard allowing moisture to aod conductivity across it. You need to use some anti galvonic paste such as moly ceremac or the like .....it doesnt matter how well the bracket its painted and it helps if you paint the bottom surface of the bracket ,but if you dont block the moisture it will corrode eventually .Most appear to corrode even in the pre ford days when they used to paint them properly.

HELP..

I have this corrosion problem on my 2 -year - old Defender. I had it on my 2013 version - and they fixed them under warranty, no problem.

This time, however ,they INSIST that the problem is a ''stone chip'' and REFUSE to do anything about it. When, quite clearly, the bracket is corroding under the existing paint.

They also add that " as there have been modifications" this also obligates them from any rectification. Pardon?. Modifications are minor and do not involve anything around that area.

Hi myonehere,

Take a look at the Puma topic, and sockpuppets thread on 'how long to fix'. I have the same problem, but my dealer couldn't be more helpful today. Contact LR customer relations. Each LR garage is obviously different with regard to customer relations, and if it's the Droitwich dealer, loads of moans on this site about them, Sad

Best of luck with getting it sorted,

Cheers

Andy

thanks for that .. this is Stratstone Cheltenham who, in the past, have been very helpful -but now truly hopeless.

I have now put it with LR customer relations.

Look at the thread ' landrover customer relations' in the Defender section. There is a member on there who works for them, they are 'CRC@landrover',

Cheers
