Last Friday, urgently needed an alternator to fix over the weekend. When the guy at the shop brought it out, it was in a box with 'Britpart' printed on it. A little voice in my head said 'NO!', but I needed it quick so took a chance.
True to form, it did not fit - one of the problems was that the top- and bottom holes for the two fixing bolts were not in alignment, and the alu. casing did not look as good quality/finish as the OEM part was.
So had to go to Landrover to get a proper one, and it fitted perfectly.
Sometimes buying quick and cheap is more expensive in the long run.

Yes always a gamble which doesn’t normally pay off
The original alternator is Denso if you don’t want to pay LR prices.
