Do you know, Sonarmender, I haven't a clue where my nearest Texaco forecourt is?

I can only think of one Esso, that's a fair way away at Barton Mills and it's only just open after it caught fire.

A fair number of BP's owned by Eurogarages, but no Texaco's.

I like Texaco, one near me does cut price fuel days, often up to 5p per litre off standard 1 - 3p off supreme. Makes for some good savings!

It's amazing the difference the higher quality fuel makes; i thought it was just a con till i started using it regular;

much better over the standard, i must admit i just use shell v power as its closest.

There is a difference for sure when I use VPower over the rest, touch more power and generally smoother/quieter engine.

How funny this all is - I tried premium fuel for a while and then returned to standard (Shell for preference) and I never use supermarket fuel. Fairly consistent 27ish mpg and never feels any more sluggish than I’d expect from a 12 year old two tonne tin box. Wink

I used premium diesel accidentally in my old Td5. Had dreadful problems with bunny hopping afterwards. Fixed after a refill with regular fuel. I always assumed Defenders just didn't like the posh stuff, looks like I may have had a bad batch or something.

I’m a fan of BP Ultimate, before using this my Defender used to suffer badly with what I can only describe as pinking. After a fill with the Ultimate no more problems!

Recently pulled into a busy petrol station to find all but one pump in use so pulled along side only to find it was Shell V Power. Being a tight Yorkshireman, it really broke my heart to be paying such a ridiculous price Big Cry but I was in a hurry so filled up.

I can honestly say I did not notice any difference in performance and the mpg was exactly the same as my last fill up with standard fuel. Some may say it will improve with every tankful but I'm not prepared to waste my money on so called supa dupa fuel. After all it's only a Land Rover with a Transit engine! Defender 90XS SW

Being a tight Yorkshireman living in Scotland, I just use the normal diesel with a shot of Millers eco max from Opie Oils.

not wanting to fuel a regional dispute but can you imagine walking into a pub with a bunch of Yorkshireman in Scotland....
The number of steamed up glasses and loose shoe laces (and text messages to reply to) would mean that only the Cheshire boys would ever get to the bar. The tight as a mallard bum brigade are so much fun to watch that I don't mind buying the the first second, forth, fifth, seventh round and pay for the taxi home.
The home counties types never dip into their pockets in pubs north of watford gap as they might get mugged.
I am convinced that Cheshire has fuelled the drinking of most of the wold since pubs where first invented. 130 Puma HCPU with an Artica 240LR Demountable Camper

I normally only use shells normal stuff, I work on a ex she'll refinery and they have been known to dilute the good stuff with the std when they have to, but it only goes to shell stations not supermarkets.

Today gough I was in Costco and running low so went to their pump to find its a posh diesel at 1
13 so I brimmed it.
It did seem to run quieter and sounded less tappy/rattely than normal
TD5 btw 2014 - current ..... 2003 defender td5 90 (my car)
2009 - current .... 2005 zx10r

saying that my 306 loved their stuff and so did the little metro I had. Never tried the defender on their fuel yet. But its seems to like BP more than shell for some reason. Shell garage is the only one that is closest to me, BP one is closer to work which is where I go coming home from back shift, as its 24 hours. Defender TD5 90 ---/--- Peugeot 306 HDI hatch back

I've tried all sorts in my TD5 90, and can honestly say it makes no difference to the performance of the vehicle or MPG which is mostly around the 30 mpg mark.

I think 30 mpg is about the best I think for a defender phil. but I could be wrong. Defender TD5 90 ---/--- Peugeot 306 HDI hatch back
