I see our favourite car designer blames dealers for making the butt end of a disco 5 look ugly

Haha grasping at straws comes to mind! I guess it does look slightly better but it's marginal. The latest craze on FB seems to be photoshopping the D5 back end with square number plate and spare wheel. It does look much better! James

Why, oh why do you feel the need to mention the 'B' word? You seem a lot more obsessed with it than we do Confused Darren

I don't like the rounded back end of the new Discovery but after saying that there was the same comments about the D3
when that was launched and I didn't really like that either however it grew on me and by the time I bought one I actually liked the design. Still not sure about the latest one though as I like a boxy shape for Land Rovers.

ALL Discoveries should have a square plate offset to the left to allow a spare wheel to be fitted.

We all know how fickle people are.

I can foresee a face lifted D5 at the midpoint - three years on.

Personally, I really like the look of the Disco SVX... quite a tasty package indeed... wonky plate and all Mr. Green

No worries, after Brexit you will have full freedom to design new U.K. number plate shapes as Jerry deems fit for his D5. Laughing

Don't understand the logic behind the offset number plate on the D5. The Disco Sport looks so much better.

Yeah... Because Tata only needs to sell in UK? Or did he really think every country will give people freedom to choose a number plate they like?
Looking at the picture I don't even like either of them.

Those Scorpio's were even hated by Ford. I remember reading something where they pushed the thing to the back of their stand at a large motor show (Frankfurt I believe) and refused to talk about it to the motoring press.

It was probably not a bad motor, and I would expect that the Disco 5 is a pretty good motor it's just sometimes the designers just push the boundaries too far.

When your sitting inside, unless you are looking at your reflection in a big glass building, what it looks like on the outside doesn't matter. Sitting on the driveway, as long as you reverse in your driveway, there shouldn't be an issue. Result Thumbs Up

The real question is whether there will be any proper D5 enthusiasts. I'm guessing they'll just be owners or, even worse, consumers by then. Darren
