Awning options for a 90?

I know awnings have been done to death but reading all the threads isn't helping as they are mostly for 110s.

I can't decide what to get, if anything at all.
The short nature of the 90 limits the length of an awning to about 220cm or so. I'm just not sure if an awning that size is of much use.

Second I'm not sure what type to get. The side awning which has a useful shape but it doesn't cover the back door.
Or the 270 degree version which doesn't seem to cover a very useful area but it does provide cover over the back door.

Speed of deployment ans stowage vary greatly as well. Like the foxwing is a pain in the butt to set up whilst the SwingAwn is much faster due to stronger construction and integrated poles.

I've been going over the pros and cons of these and I just can't decide. At the moment I use a 3x3m garden gazebo. It's super effective and I love the size but it's bulky, doesn't take wind that well and when wet everything else in the back gets wet as well.

So there we are. I've been struggling with this for ages now. I don't want to carry a gazebo in the back anymore but it's the best option I have at the moment it feels like.

What options are there that I haven't come across, how can you maximize the covered area?

The Hannibal Spyder might be faster to deploy than the Foxwing as it appears to require no legs. But might not be suitable for installation on a 90.

I've looked at the Fiamma - one of my fav side awnings. But I'm not sure how useful a side awning is. And you can probably agree as you're selling one!

The foxwing doesn't interest me one bit - too fiddly with poles.

The Hanibal side awning only extends 1.7m making it one of the smallest on the market.
The Spyder version is for a 110.

I use a modified ROBENS 3x3m tarp, some upright poles and across pole to create a good cooking and seating area at the rear of my 90. The awning is very light, stores away in a small bag. and performs well in bad, windy, wet and sunny conditions.

Honest answer is we are buying a two berth caravan so I don't need it anymore
We found it really useful for all our dog events and its a great fit on the 90 - plus it looks good in the Ali tubing

A tarp is great for cover but it takes a bit of time to set up.
You're not going to set it up if you are just stopping for a sandwich.

I use howling moon 2.1 with sides... easy and quick and can take a storm.
Why do yo need it to cover back door ?

For access to all cooking stuff really. Otherwise you'd be out in the rain getting stuff out the back to put in under the awning.

hi Dantastic,

May depend if you have a roofrack or not but on my 90 (with a roofrack) I don't find a 2.5m awning looks out of place and a 2.5x2m covered area is great for us - I wouldn't be without it either in sun or rain. Goes up and down in less than 60secs.

I mount it to overhang the back of the rack about the depth of the rack ladder (looks fine and doesn't get in the way going up and down the ladder - even with stuff) and it overhangs the front of the rack/windscreen by the balance (probs 35 - 40cm) and I've never caught this front overhang on anything yet.

I looked closely at the rhino eco thing but it s a very "shallow" amount of covered space and wouldn't have worked for us.

I can probably put my TARP awning up quicker than a role up awning and do use it for quick stops.

LRO Show this weekend and I know 4x4Overlander and Tuff Trek will have a few on display. Not sure about for a 90 though. James
