Is/was it a British-registered vehicle?
If not, and you are trying to find the VIN/chassis number of a Nigerian registration, then I have no idea how you'd go about it. If it is a British registration, although I don't think that there is any way that you can find out the VIN/chassis number, you might, if it was around recently enough to be registered on the DVLA computer, be able to find out if it is still on the road or when it was last on the road. It rather depends when it disappeared, if indeed it has disappeared. I think that this is longer than a "long shot", it is an unbelievably long shot! Good luck! |

No, registered in Nigeria
Was hoping someone could point me towards the Nigerian DVLA equivalent. Also, I know the company that purchased the vehicle from JLR, so if I can narrow down to a VIN range based on sales records that would be great. Classic land rover team can only give me date and spec, British motor industry heritage trust can only provide build record details when they are provided with a VIN. The vehicle was used by my father when he was stationed in Nigeria. If I locate the chassis, I hope to rebuild it. Once I have the VIN, I hope to place a newspaper ad to locate it through Reg#, but if I do not have the VIN beforehand to validate, I'm sure there will be quite a few 'sellers'
Thank you & agreed! Hoping to get lucky! |

The last time I was in Nigeria I did see a Land Rover graveyard on the side of the road out of Lagos. There must have been 50 or 60 vehicles being stripped for parts to keep others going. It was quite the sight.
May I ask what the significance of this vehicle is? |

The FRSC is Nigeria's equivalent of the DVLA, if it's run in a similar manner to Ghana you may have a tough time trying to find anything but good luck.

The vehicle was used by my father when he was stationed in Nigeria in the 70s. If I locate the chassis, I hope to rebuild it. |

Just seen this.
I'm currently in Nigeria, if you can give me the details, I have someone I can ask to look into if for you. It's a long shot though, they're not really up on their record keeping here. There are a lot of series vehicles around in Lagos mostly carrying sacks of cement and blocks. Where was your father stationed? |
