lol they are ancient but still legal Smile, its a costly exercise because i wanted to get some BFG Ko2's or preferably the Cooper STT pros in either 235 or 265 width ( cant decide which) and the current steels are 7.5' r16's so hence the new alloys Smile. No point wasting money on tyres i don't really want and choice is limited in the standard steel sizes.

your kidding i threw some of them out when i took the bust manky hard wheel cover off the spare as they were not needed Sad

It's probably just a cost issue, the ARB's don't really improve comfort but they make it a little more car like in terms of handling. Those with steel wheels tend to be the cheaper spec, so by not fitting ARB's LR are saving money. Obviously not having them helps with axle articulation too, but it's probably more to do with something being used mainly off road simply not needing ARB's as they make no real difference driving across a field, a bit like fitting a heated windscreen to a car used in North Africa.

That's them. It's so the extra width of the wheel and tyre doesn't foul the rear wiper.

The items in your picture are: steering damper (the thing with the spring on it.) The drag link which connects the steering drop arm to the swivel housing and the panhard rod which secures the axle laterally.
You only need 18 wheel nuts and 5 locking nuts, spare wheel carrier only has 3 nuts to secure the wheel.
Having spent some time in deep snow and freezing temperatures in the High Atlas mountains of North Africa a heated windscreen would have been a very handy thing

I doubt they're a popular option in most of north africa though.

It's worth noting the nuts for the spare wheel are different to those for the road wheels.
