I recently took ownership of a newer 2.2 xs 110 that has been affectionately known as Poppy.
 Click image to enlarge We plan to turn Poppy into an overland camper that will allow us to tour Europe and beyond. So far some small changes have been made to start the process, 1. a new DAB/Blutooth pioneer radio - DEH-X 8700DAB, with a dual link to the aerial so as the DAB and FM can both be picked up from the standard areal. A glove box conversion from MSS has been made and two USB charging points fitted, with 2 others below on the passenger self below as you cant have enough of these !! [url] http://www.mobilestoragesystems.net [/url] 3. A diesel powered Planar air heater fitted in an under cubby box unit supplied from Nakatanenga. The kit is very comprehensive and includes fittings for the fuel supply and mounting of the pump and electrical connections etc. I was able to fit the unit on my own in a day. Extra power to keep the starter battery safe from running flat, so found a good sized leisure battery, Hankrook XV110MF and 140 amp VSR split charge system that were both delivered speedily and duly fitted. The split charge was all ready wired and just needed to be connected and earthed. I needed to move the feed for the fitted subwoofer as it came from the middle of the floor plate and that was where the heater was to go. It�s a little tight at the moment so will extend the cable to allow for some flexibility. The under cubby unit had fittings for two more power sockets and these were linked to the auxiliary battery to allow the running of ancillary equipment such as hand held radios and LED flashing lights with the ignition off. 5. A 240 Volt inverter is going to be added to the system along the side of the under cubby unit to allow for laptop and camera battery charging. Its one we had in our previous 110 so know its reliable and suits our needs. 6. The next plan is to fit wing protectors so as I can stand on the wings when loading up canoes and bikes etc, as well as sitting on looking at the views or sitting cups of hot chocolate on. We have been looking at a lot of set ups for camping over the last few years. Our previous 110 had dormobile seats in and allowed us to use the vehicle on a day to day basis, with sleeping accommodation on two single beds when required. However my partner was finding that the seats were not comfortable after our long distance trips of 3000 miles, and wanted to have a bed that was permanently set up. So the logical step was for a pop top roof that give us access to the bed from inside the vehicle, and fold up out the way when not needed. That way the bulky items like bedding would be up out of the way but accessible at any time. I needed a full roof rack to carry canoes, bicycles etc. so that reduced the choices some what. 1. We found x-vision-x ([url] http://www.x-vision-x.de/product_info.php?...pdach.html [/url]) in Germany who had a poptop that fitted the bill, and were able to look at one locally. So that is now on the agenda for fitting next year. 2. Meanwhile we looked at the inside set up of the 110. With the bed in the roof that leaves all the inside area free for use. I wanted to keep the functionality of having seating for passengers on a day to day basis when we were not camping, so a removable set up was preferable. Again a German site, Landy-Ausbu ([url] http://www.landy-ausbau.de/vollausbau.html [/url] ) came to light that made modular units that could be fitted in place of the 2nd row seats, giving me the best of both worlds.
The units have storage cupboards on one side of the vehicle stacked 3 high, a long low unit on the opposite side for sitting, a porta-potty unit that is a big bonus!! And units accessible from the 2nd row doors. This is going to be useful while we wait for the pop-top to be fitted.
3. cooker � we had a fitted cooker on the previous 110 but wanted to be more flexible in this one, so have bought a portable cooker this time ([url] http://www.amazon.co.uk/PORTABLE-HEATER-DO...r+portable [/url]) with a larger camping Gaz bottle and regulator. 4. Catering equipment & sundries = knife fork spoons, kitchen knife, colander cutting board cooking pots, cups, coffee filter, tea, coffee, chocolate, salt, pepper, vinegar, we have all ready and will put into small 'really useful boxes' 5. Water management � x1 20 lrt bottle with tap. - have one ready to go but may look at a better one after the fitting of the interior. 4. Sleeping mats are on Kipmats which are nice and thick and insulated with our 'Mountain Equipment' four season qualofil sleeping bags being used for the time being 5. Additional lighting � rear work light, DRL�s, extra driving lights, inside lights we have all ready .. just got to get them fitted 6. Recovery equipment � High-lift jack, spade, strops, tow strop shackles - again all owned and to be fitted. Just out of interest what made you go for the x-vision-x over the Alu-Cab? They look very similar or are they one of the same? TIA James

I was searching for my PLANAR heater manual for the control panel too.

Thanks Skip - I have one in pride of place all ready !! AmadeusLV- I have found the timer hand book in English ,... it just took some time - hope that your heater is as good as mine! very pleased with it so far - so we will see how it goes in the cooler weather and when I need to run the timer to start it in the mornings ! My heater is all right too. This morning in Latvia was +9 Celsius, i had instaled modem so that i dont need to get our of bed to turn it on

Skip, I like the concept of that, although does look pricey when you consider what it actually is. Although I'm sure in the flesh the money would be seen in the storage box/kitchen.
It reminds me of a sleeping system I was given when I had a 200tdi Disco. Box frame stood in the boot, fold down the rear seat, fold the front seats forward, stand a goalpost frame behind the rear seats which linked back to the box frame with 2 or 3 bar. Overlaid with some pre-shaped boards which had been covered with a soft foam and vinyl, and hey presto one double bed. To be honest, I only used it once as the height of it, only left about 3 feet between the top of the board and the roof. This also meant climbing into bed was quite an effort. The other downside was it effectively removed the use of the boot. However I can see the benefit of such a temporary system now. 2007 - Stornoway Grey 90 XS SW - Gone

Some great looking mods. While on holiday in Skye I spotted this then spotted it again (at the House of Bruar, I should have had a chat with the owner it looked well sorted, plus they had an overland trailer...on the site. The perils of modifications - Having successfully fitted the 2nd battery and split charge I thought it prudent to secure the batteries and wiring in a better fashion, so took everything out and looked the securing method
During this process I seem to have allowed the stater battery positive to come into contact with the battery box and short out ... this caused my hand break cable to get rather warm and melt the covering ... !!! so lesson learnt - now have some insulation on the wall of the battery box and some spaces around the battery to prevent a re-occrance Now sitting at the main dealers with a couple of warrantee items being looked at and a new hand break cable being fitted !! on a plus side - batteries now safe and secure and no other damage, and 2 USB sockets fitted !!
