Baileys are OK, but to be honest they are a little bit like a pair of beige trousers safe but not that exciting and I always think of them as the retired person’s caravan.
If you want class and a well-made caravan go for an Elddis, a maker with decades of experience. Elddis build the UK's only fully-bonded touring caravans with their unique and industry-leading SoLiD Construction. SoLiD Construction sets the unparalleled benchmark for leisure vehicle construction - backed by our unmatched 10 Year Warranty. Elddis partnered with Henkel - the world-renowned structural bonding specialists - to create their bonding system, the same world-class construction system that is used on Formula 1 racing cars, super yachts and is even used to bond the wings on aeroplanes. For the sort of money you have you would be looking at a two/three year old Elddis caravan but as they come with a ten year water ingress warranty you would get seven years plus of worry free caravanning made with quality materials and top of the market fittings. For those who like Welsh Mountains and narrow boats have a look at my videos and photos at.. http://www.youtube.com/user/conwy1 |

We did look at elddis caravans but found they are quite a bit heavier than the equivalents on the market 2008 110 2.4 XS Utility (Hagrid) 2002 90 TD5 Hardtop (Sully) Sold 1998 300TDi D1 (Billy) Sold |

We've always had Carlights. They hand-made coachbuilt and very expensive.
A second-hand one costs the same as a new anything else but will outlast almost any other 'van and you get all that 'Rolls Royce' quality and comfort, |

Hello legin
Probably not what your looking for, but this is our Eriba 540...2 / 3 berth, (Wife and I + Dog) If build quality / structural toughness is a consideration, then i'd place Eriba's in the 'top drawer' also. Click image to enlarge Full internal metal skeleton, on a proper chassis, 4 season cladding / insulation, these Vans are known to last decades, without progressively 'opening up'...resulting in the inevitable damp issues. The 'old school' method of cheaply building Van's obtaining some degree of 'structural integrity' only when the internal box cupboards and 'furniture' where 'screwed' (or stapled) in place hopefully is a dying practice... http://www.eribaforum.co.uk/eriba%20amiga/eriba_touring.html SKIP https://www.defender2.net/forum/topic83242.html |

Yes, the firm evolved from the famous heavy haulage firm of Siddle C Cook, which didn't survive the postwar nationalisation of the British transport industry. He stopped heavy haulage and switched to caravans! |

Swift make Elddis, Sterling, Sprite and Lunar so generally the build will be similar between them all. Swift and Elddis are the premium 'vans in the range
If you want a caravan to last a lifetime then a German or at least European van is the only way to go 2002 90 Td5 Station Wagon 1990 Vogue SE Triumph Tiger Explorer 1200 Td5 90 Thread http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic50767.html Tdi 110 Thread https://www.defender2.net/forum/topic69562.html RRC Thread http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic54492.html Instagram http://www.instagram.com/george_grafton |

Thanks...I can see your after something much bigger, and there is a visual and (more importantly) weight 'tipping point' where twin axles are just a better solution (good for safety also). We are almost always the smallest when we set up camp. Eriba was acquired by the German HYMER Company in 1980...they have basically continued the design approach, much like a European version of an Airstream. For us it has worked really well...especial when 'travelling' more than 'staying'...good also on the narrow twisty bits. Click image to enlarge Good Luck with your search... Not Lunar - they're independently owned. I think Elddis are a separate company, too. Darren 110 USW BUILD THREAD - EXPEDITION TRAILER - 200tdi 90 BUILD THREAD - SANKEY TRAILER - IG@landroveranorak "You came in that thing? You're braver than I thought!" - Princess Leia |
