May be more important is the question which digital maps you want to use - and so what app does these maps. You then can use a conversion programm/app to convert to GPX file to a format to suit the app or device you choose.
I have used MotionX GPS on the iPad, it reads GPX flles. Galileo is a good app that will read .gpx files .
