Generator recommendations.
Looking for recommendations on 4 stroke petrol generators.

Must be inverter type, sine wave looking at about 2kW 240v output and as quiet as possible.

I know Honda is good but they come in at over £1,000.

Anyone tried to make a sound proofing box for one? Yes am aware of need to get engine exhaust away and flow of air. Bpx would need to be portable.

Suggestions welcome.

Good Morning,
I ran a Kipor generater for a couple of years,
never missed a beat, good fuel consumption,
"Slightly" noiser than my previous Hionda one, but not enough to make a difference,
They were both 2K power rating,
and suitcase type, _ although i wouldnt want to carry them too far Rolling with laughter

I ran it for between 7-8 hours a day and didnt need to refuel, it powered a burger van, so fridges and freezers lights etc,

i would use them again if i needed to, and cheaper than a honda,

Hope that helps, just my pennys worth of real experiences

Richard

Hi I've got a kipor ig2000 sinewave which is excellent admittedly it has low usage but I've owned it for around 7/8 years I had owned a Honda generator for a number of years but after I had owned this one for a couple of years I sold the Honda,I'm very pleased with my kipor it's easy to start quiet running and has never let me down Thumbs Up Paul

I have a Hyundai 3kW set, perfectly happy with it. Hyundai seems to be the go to for people that can't quite stomach the cost of a Honda!

What's your usage? My solution to the noise is a 25m cable and hide it behind trees Laughing

Why I have a relative free hand at what I buy, somehow I think the finance director would have my balls for an ornament if I spent that amount on a generator!

Our useage will be at shows to power fridges, recharge computers and caravan batteries. So not too noisy and a decent sign wave function.

Hi Brendan, I know some caravaners who swear by the Clarke 2Kw generator and a lot less cash ,which will be handy for a trainee Yorkshire man.

Soundproofing is not a good idea as they need all round ventilation to prevent over heating don't ask how I know, the only thing I would suggest is a waterproof cover which has zipped sides. Pm me if you need details of a supplier. Don't make old people mad.
We don't like being old in the first place,
so it doesn't take much to Censored us off.

There is a new clarke generator coming out - that is what you want.

Ive been waiting for it since April/may - it was due to land in July but its still not out.

It does not have a comparable version on the market. Mike

We only use the generator a few times a year at shows

We have not had a good experience with the Clarke 2kW generator. Used approx 6 times. Starter pull cord jammed 3 times. In for quote on repair, over £300 as it needs a new inverter!

So I am not impressed with the Clarke generator or the amount of time it took to get a quote out of local Machine Mart

Yes I know you can always get the rogue one/friday afternoon made one but I am a bit dubious about trying another Clarke generator!

When I've rung up Clarke aftersales for compressor spares they've supplied me through Machine Mart before. There's certainly a very close relationship between the two.

I also would be wary of spendning too much money there, all they do is rebadge generic stuff that lots of other people also rebadge.

If you do only use a generator infrequently, could I suggest using a petrol additive such as ethanol shield? Always had issues with engines on strimmers and hedge trimmers and this stuff does seem to stop the petrol going off. It actually recommends using it in the manual for my new grass cutter. Generators, unless used regularly, I presume would have fuel issues.

I have had two generators. Not Honda Generators but both Generators had Honda engines (if that makes sense). Both have been A1.
