Gearbox clatter!
Hi all,
When in 2nd gear, low box, downhill with engine braking there is a very loud clattering coming from the transmission. Land Rover themselves say "it's normal" (no surprise there then). Has anyone else experienced the same noise? Could be other gears as well, I haven't tried them.
Thanks in advance.

could be the cluch spring issue, havent had it myself so can't say but others will be along soon with there 2p's, the problem with low range and off road issues is its very hard to recreate for the dealer.

I don't beleive they are related. Traction control chatter is a different noise, and a much higher frequency.

in general gearbox clatter is caused by the input shaft axial play, which in turn is si suppressed by the inner central damper in the friction plate. The noise is common at very low speeds and shoudl go away at higher revs. Puma 110" SW
