They have an orientation (should have a top mark of some kind) and also standard ones don't work mounted in metal 2002 90 Td5 Station Wagon

Did you get the wiring right? According to the manual (found on the web, but not sure it is the right one) the yellow wire goes to stop (brake) light, red to reverse and black to earth... Cheers, Vincent

Interesting, why would it go to the brake light? The wires where labeled yellow clearly had "ignition 12v" on it.

Because when you stop, the buzzer stops buzzing?
Was a manual not included? I'm pretty sure it's to do with the way the sensors generate their pulse and then 'listen' for the echo.
Me and my dad fitted a set of normal parking sensors into the metal bumper on the back of his van. They never worked properly and randomly beeped with nothing there or didn't go off even if you were 6 inches from a wall. Total rubbish! 2002 90 Td5 Station Wagon 1990 Vogue SE Triumph Tiger Explorer 1200 Td5 90 Thread http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic50767.html Tdi 110 Thread https://www.defender2.net/forum/topic69562.html RRC Thread http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic54492.html Instagram http://www.instagram.com/george_grafton |

Apparently there are metal specific ones. Or you can get ones with dedicated plastic brackets 2002 90 Td5 Station Wagon

Hmmmm!! Ill look into it, the ones ive got are a sealed unit, surrounded by a rubber sheath, then wrapped in plastic and mounted into my NAS step. Should be pretty insulated against the metal!
