There is a cracker on ebay at the moment for £18k,,, http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/unimog-/14245165...SwfpVZLvU3 wrt registering them, if it is a camper like the ones in the OPs photos (i.e. has a bed / table / sink in it), it only needs a normal MOT and isn't classed as HGV. Most people run them as agricultural so free road tax and no MOT required, you are seriously limited to what you can do with it however and aren't allowed on the motorway and have to keep to tractor speed limits. The guys I knew with the campers were getting around 20mpg out of them. Mine was tuned up a bit and used to return 13mpg.... Stuff is so engineered it doesn't often break but when it does it can be pricey, as is stuff like tyres / brakes etc. |

"Real toys"
Yup, and "This was mine a few years back..." could have finished "... and then I grew up". Brother-in-law (German) has a couple, but then he's also got some vintage tractors - Fendt and his pride and joy, a BMW - and his daily drive is an ex-Bundeswehr G-Wagon (camouflaged of course). A farmer so it's excusable, but he really is sixty going on sixteen. Peter |
