I've used pliers for crimping, the front crimp direct to copper, the rear crimp direct around the wire sheath.
The rubber seal, push over from behind. A tiny dab of superglue between the seal and housing so it never moves. If I ever needed to replace, I'd just replace the connector anyway as theyare cheap. Okay, maybe not the professional way of doing it, but I see no merits in buying a tool fir single use. Especially as in around 5 years now I've had zero issues with any of mine. Personally I trust my own judgement on grip of crimp more than a tool, on bigger wiring get yes, I feel a tool is best but I don't see it being the case with these. But this is just my view, I've never had any problem in years. KEEP CALM AND Drill ON 🇬🇧🏴🏴🏴🇮🇪🇺🇸⛽️🛢️⚙️🧰💪 |

Here is the manual from AMP which shows the rubber being crimped on.
http://www.farnell.com/datasheets/38221.pdf I didn't bother on mine as I wanted the rear crimp to catch the insulation to hold it good. |

Just a heads up I would buy a spare packet of the silver connectors as whenever I have tried criping those tiny connectors I have always ruined a few of them. Mind you I am a bit ham fisted For those who like Welsh Mountains and narrow boats have a look at my videos and photos at..
