Changing rear discs. Anything else worth doing?
As the title says, I need to change rear pads and discs.

Just wondering if it's worth doing anything else while it's all off?

Cheers,

Jason

Go down to the local breakers and buy two 300tdi disco or 300tdi 90 halfshafts and fit them instead of the two piece ones.

I did take all 4 off, I didn't see a point keeping them. Roel

I've had a quick nosey around the web and can't see the difference.

How do the Puma ones differ to the Tdi ones please? Which bit is the two piece part?

Excuse my ignorance Embarassed Laughing

The late td5 / Puma half shafts are two piece with separate drive flanges - these flanges and shafts always wear and get slop in them causing the usual driveline bonk. Landrover sorted this problem out on the 300tdi's with the one piece halfshafts with integral drive member, but for some reason went back to the two piece shafts in early /mid 2000's, possibly to rationalise and use th same halfshafts as the 110 when they ditched the Salisbury. I think they may have reverted back to one piece shafts again with the late pumas?

Ive had four late td5's and a Puma and swapping to the 300tdi shafts is always the first thing I do to them when I've bought them and it is always a big improvement even if they don't seem that worn.

Here's a link to paddocks but breakers are full of them and can't give them away usually!

Um 300Tdis weren't integral shafts, certainly not on 110s and Salisbury axles. Seperate drive flanges and shafts, should know as I've currently got them sat in the shed. Ed
