Intermittent engine warning light
Hi Folks,
Any idea what an intermittent engine warning light might mean? It goes into limp mode when the light comes on but then if you stop and start again the engine runs fine still with the warning light on. After a fw starts the light disappears, only to reappear the next day.
I don't have a diagnostic tester but am about to call a garage to find someone who has one.
Cheers. 2.2 90 XS

The only thing you can do is look for chaffed wires under the bonnet. Assuming you don't find any, then you've no way of knowing without plugging in a tester.

Word of advice don't drive it if the engine or oil illuminates get it into a garage asap.
The red oli light indicated oil pressure not level.

Yes, it means you have a fault and need to plug in some diagnostic equipment!

Not a very insightful answer I know, but that is all you can tell just from the light. There are hundreds of things that can cause this to happen, and without reading the associated fault codes from the ECU or any other symptoms (such as misfiring) any further attempt at diagnosis is pure guesswork.

Maybe it's a morse code
And if it is three brief flashes followed by three long flashes
And then three brief ones..It maybe a distressed signal from your defender...

.....If it's a 2.2 have you got the engine oil pump recall done?
