I don't like lamp guards but I guess they would help with security bolts?

Would it be against the law to install some kind of booby traps inside your beloved Defender .
Maybe some kind of lightweight incendiary device ? Then if thief steals it and drives away in it - the explosive device could be triggered remotely to maim the thieves ? Maybe maim is a bit extreme ??? Maybe even just some kind of smoke bomb with a nasty foul smelling putrid smell like H2S ? I'm sure there are plenty other ways that you can fight back against these low life ? Or some kind of booby trap spike that could be hidden inside the seat that when triggered could give them a nasty poke right up their ars6s ? Or you see that type of foul smelling super black grease for security or the red dye that is in G4 secuitry vans that deliver money to the banks ? What about a canistier that when triggered sprays black grease on to their faces ? Or a canistor that fills the cabin with red dye casuing them to be covered in it ? That would make them think twice about stealing our beloved Defenders . With all the technical gurus on here I am sure that some form of unique booby traps could be thought up and made - maybe not to the extreme as seriously hurting or maiming them that would land us in trouble ? |

Active devices which injure or maim the thieves are, sadly, illegal in this country. You might get away fitting a loud, say 130dB, siren in the cab. It would not be possible to remain in the vehicle if that was going off without blood coming from your ears and permanent hearing damage, however if it could be established that you knew this would happen you would probably be in trouble.
There is, or at least was, a system available which filled the car with harmless but very opaque smoke, to the extent that you couldn't drive it because you couldn't see. The smoke would continue to discharge for about 5 minutes, and tended to draw attention to the vehicle. I also liked the mention earlier about the giant airbag that simply fills the available space in the car, though in my ideal world this would be combined with the siren and the smoke and they'd all activate together with the thieves in the vehicle. I've also wondered about fitting an alarm mine (the kind that takes blank shotgun cartridges) inside the cab, rigged up to the handbrake lever or similar. I doubt that you'd be very happy if a shotgun cartridge fired inside a closed vehicle. Again, though, I suspect that you'd be in more trouble that the thieves if you did this. Perhaps mount it under the vehicle instead. |

In the summer months my pet snake spends the nights in mine and he is 7 feet long. Sometimes I look forward to someone breaking in. but he would probably get legal aid to sue me. It is a chance I am willing to take. 1983 Series 3 Pick up in Marine Blue

The 130db Siren sounds like a good idea ........
Or why not have a device that plays Des O'Conner or Daniel O'Donnel songs at the same dB level ? Surely that would be alot worse ? |
