I tried in Iceland but spent too much time in a hot tub!

Went to Tromso in January to do this, 250 miles into the arctic circle in Norway. It was hitting -21 but was a great trip. Lovely people too. Hope you enjoy it.

Why doesn't that surprise me Jeremy . Local grog too??!
Will Jane a look at Tromso then. Wonder if a TDCI will stay warm enough to generate heater feed in -21??? 1951 80" S1 2.0 1995 110 300TDI 1995 90 300TDI |

If you follow Kev from Mud, he had a friend with a Jeep that tow started his 110 to life most mornings, though it was -37!!

Search out posts by BPMan. He made a similar trip and did some very specific and thorough prep work to his 110. Darren

Familymad, alas I replied to your OP in haste, my trusty 110 was safe at home for that trip, although it would be a fantastic trip if one were to drive up from the south of the country

Thanks LRA, I did the trip in February, coldest I saw was -41C. Nordkapp is basically a road trip, any well maintained defender can do it My specific mods are: 1. Webasto block heater - pretty easy to fit, lots on here about fitting and config. I bought mine new from Derek at LRS, good price and helpful chap. 2. winter tyres - soft compound, mandatory. Studdable and took studs but did not use them. 3. Twin battery set up from mobilecentre 4. If you have a 2.4 you'll want to get the breather heater installed The puma heater is well up to the job, heated front screen came in useful. Anything else is "nice to haves" At the time I had crystal headlights not sure if led headlights would keep the ice/snow off Pm me if you'd like a chat. |
