Forgot to mention, investment is about the same.
The vnt turbo plus digiboost is about the same price as the twin turbo setup. I will also upgrade the billet compressor impeller for either setup to help reduce lag. |

To control the vnt vacuum actuator
The vnt is controlled via vacuum and not boost. There may be a way for me to swap the vacuum for a boost, but that needs more google time |

I have a VNT but no digiboost, just a VW sensor on the inlet collector and a good remap

Plz explain your vw sensor...How does it control the vnt at low and high rpms?

the VNT I have is from BAS (TurboTechnics)
As your VNT gives more air, you get more pressure at the inlet, more than the the sensor can handle so the ecu goes in limp mode. VW makes sensors with a wider range and together with a good remap the ecu handles the higher pressures correctly. So no need to install these boostboxes that reduce the voltage signal going to the ecu |

Interestin find, seems i could use the boost actuator from my td5 to control the vanes.
So no need vacuum to control. |

Turbo technics make a VNT that bolts directly to the td5 manifold and already has an actuator fit for boost pressure control.

Do you guys find the turbotechnics Vnt whistles when boosting?

Ok, so its a simple wastegate swap.
I am lookin for a little bigger turbo, thats why i am goin with the 2260 vs the 2052 which everyone is runnin. Should give me better turbo efficiency and keep some more on the table for later. Alive make the new modified map sensor to help with the overboost. So question still hasnt been answered, vnt turbo or twin? Vnt will be less work with more space, and the twin more work with less space... Twin has its benefits and so does vnt. The twin has a one smaller turbo which should spool up quick givin me boost as low as 1500 and a larger one to carry the boost till redline. The vnt is a mid sized turbo that should spool up faster and keep the pressure on till about redline. Using the wastegate actuator has it where the vnt should force the vanes to accelerate the exhaust to spin it faster at 0 boost and once i get to my boosted pressure it will open the vanes slowin the flow and also reducin the boost... Only problem is the failsafe is mox boost, where the vacuum is 0 boost |

My VNT comes on boost at around 1500 rpm and pulls hard all the way to the governor. Unless a twin turbo came on boost at 1100 rpm or less I think the additional complexity and fabrication required just wouldn't be worth it. 2002 90 Td5 Station Wagon
