Not much progress further, but little steps will get me there eventually.
Got the axle stripped down so I could assess what needed replacing, seems I'll need new swivel balls/bearings/seals plus drive members and associated hub seals and gaskets but the rest will go again which is good news. All the axle end station parts have been cleaned up and painted where appropriate ready for reassembly onto the casing once the new bits arrive: Click image to enlarge I had to replace one hub as it had a broken drive member bolt stuck in there which had been partially drilled out off centre, but luckily I have a big pile of spare hubs so one was duly cleaned up and the new disc swapped over. I then spent the best part of 6-7 hours scraping and scrubbing with white spirit to clean the axle casing of all the Waxoyl and general muck. It is in good nick though and is now ready for rubbing down and repainting prior to rebuilding. Click image to enlarge |

Bit of a delay in updating this.
Both axles now rebuilt and rolling, positioned under the chassis ready to be mounted up once a big box of shiny stuff from Land Rover arrives. Got the fuel tank mounted in as well. Click image to enlarge |

Looks great.. you'll be rolling it outside before you know it!
Will you be treating the inside of your chassis? reason I ask is that I have a Marsland Galv chassis and was thinking of applying some Dinitrol cavity wax to the inside.. 1993 200Tdi Defender 90 |

Here's hoping, need to do timing belt on the 90 so will need the chassis mobile so I can use the workshop.
Might stick some cavity wax in if I can be bothered, we'll see. |

Coming along nicely, wish I had the room to attempt something like this👍
Good luck with the rest p.s. Just double check where those doors were from you never know? https://www.google.co.uk/amp/www.bbc.co.uk...e-37220084 ?? |

Thanks. The doors have been in my workshop for 6 years or so. They also came from a proper commercial scrapyard, not a pikey outfit, so I'm pretty confident that they're above board.
