Pippa Middleton had one at her wedding a few weeks ago which sounded amazing!
We could just about see it through the hedge rows, but too far away for good photos...... Rolling with laughter 80" 80" 86" 88" 90"

We saw the Spitfire as it flew in, but are too far away from the Middleton home to see the display, we are however close to the Church where they got married...which understandably had a high security presence... SKIP

That's a different spin on the idea of "wedding presence"!

OK, I'll get my coat now....

Some years ago whilst based at Pirbright Barracks (for those who don't know, a short distance from Farnborough), I was walking across the Golden Acre (drill square), when I heard the beautiful sound of a prop plane accelerating fast. It was a week before the Air Show and I looked up to see a Spitfire punch through the tree-line, drive skyward, turn, roll and dive towards the ground. Not being of the necessary vintage, nor a regular visitor to airshows, it was a rare, and genuinely beautiful thing to experience and a great privilege. I can understand why people of my father's generation, who would have been a young boy during the war, waxed lyrical about seeing one of the most beautiful planes ever built in flight Bow down Monsieur Le Grenadier

I've not been everywhere, but it's on my list.....

There is nothing like the beautiful distinct sound of a Spitfire. Thumbs Up

Last Saturday was the Queens Birthday and every we are treated to a display of a lone Spitfire over our local Forces camp. We live a couple of miles away but in an elevated position so we get to see the display plus the old girl turns over us. I'd forgotten all about what day it was untill the unmistakable engine noise was over the house and what a display!
I'm sure that the pilot goes a little further on this display than others I've seen at local shows and the like Thumbs Up
