Windscreen Washer Jets
Been having issues with my front jets for ages, then suddenly, lots of water came out.....

.......forwards.

On inspection, the Jet has come off. I think they've been blocked and the pressure of the water has pushed it off.

So, I've bought a new one as pictured below. Rather than change the whole thing which is a centre console off job by the looks of it, I assume I can also break this one too to fit.

It looks like the assembly pushes onto the end of the threaded pipe, however, am I correct in thinking that it's just bonded in place? To me it looks like a bit of a risk of cracking it splitting it.

Has anyone else done this, or should I stop being a lazy ass and get the centre console out?

The big nozzle part just pulls off the end of the threaded pipe - not even bonded. There is just a ridge on the end of the threaded pipe.
Lot of resistance though, so "screw your courage to the sticking place" and pull like hell - there's just a solid plastic ridge to overcome and it will pop off Thumbs Up Tell someone you love them today because life is short.
But shout it at them in German because life is also terrifying and confusing...

mine always used to pop off when it was frosty (obviously not enough anti freeze in the washer water)

Once they "come off" they tend to come off more easily, so a dab of superglue when you re-fit should stop that happening again.

Yeah mine came off the same as well, it was clearly not glued at all.

Problem was the replacement I purchased was glued, so tough time separating the nozzle (but I eventually managed to take it off).

But I wasn't so pleased with that solution, it was no better than the original which failed eventually.

I eventually replaced the entire assembly with (another) one which was glued from new. It's not that hard, remove the radio, the central dash, remove the metallic bit that holds the back of the radio and you can access the nut and undo it from behind the dash.

Not that hard, really, took me an hour or so. I took the opportunity to inject a fair amount of clear Waxoil behind the dash and in the bulkhead through the hole, while I was at it...

Didn't realise its that easy to get to from behind the radio - might further improve my wash/wiper system when I tidy up my cables Thumbs Up Tell someone you love them today because life is short.

^^^^ That's just what I did.... I bought 2 new jets, a "T" piece and some hose. when mine failed last time I whipped the dash top off and fitted 2 jets, one either side (used the LHD wiper arm holes)

Trouble is, my washer pump motor is a bit weak, so need to get another/better one for some more pressure Rolling Eyes

My "T" is on the outside for now, held onto the washer stub with a small hose clip - looks okay (works brilliantly) but inside the dash will be tidier Thumbs Up Tell someone you love them today because life is short.

Cheers all. New one was glued together, a lever from a screwdriver later and I was left with it split. Put some hot glue from a glue gun on the existing pipe and all is good again.

I can actually see where I'm going again! Craig Rogers

That's a Censored Sad

If you do need to get at the washer assembly from inside, centre dash removal is here:

Just in case, by split, I meant split as in 2 parts, not split as in broken! Thumbs Up Craig Rogers
